Hi, I'm currently working on a vc++ application (VS2012) and need to update specific objects (such as changing an attribute description for that object from PASS to FAIL) from a database in DOORS 9.5. I have researched a lot on this and come to the conclusion that I have to execute dxl from my vc++ program, but cannot figure out how for the life of me. I've seen the methods from the dxl reference manual that would allow me to run dxl, but I don't allow me to use them from vc++, or maybe I just can't figure out how to use them from vc++. It's also important to note that I want to not have to have DOORS open while it's being updated. Please help. P.S. I can't just make the program in another language because I already wrote a ton of it, this updating with dxl is just part of the program TheNimbleWalrus - Wed Jun 28 10:36:03 EDT 2017 |
Re: Execute dxl from a Visual C++ application The most common pattern is a DOORS batch process that you execute from vc++... This boils down to spawning a process of DOORS exe with the correct parameters. There are several ways to pass data to the DXL: 1. embed (write some temporary dxl containing variables, then include your main script using those variables) 2. files (write the data to the files, read them from DXL) or any other string based mechanism (registry, environment, etc.) The safest way for getting data back from the VC program is to write it to a file from DXL and read it from VC. There are a lot of posts on this topic on the forum. Maybe that helps, regards, Mathias |
